Color vs. Grayscale

While in New York over winter break, I saw these dragon sculptures (inspired by Taiwanese culture) set up along Broadway in the Garment District. I found it interesting that these 2 dragons, set up right next to each other contrasted so greatly: one was extremely colorful (called the “Fortunate Round Dragon), and the other was colorless (called the “Dynamic Round Dragon). In class, we talked about how color changes the interpretation of a piece of art. Our first project was just black & white, but when we add color to our work in the future, what does the color contribute?
