Though not his strongest song lyrically, I was floored by the visuals in Kendrick Lamar’s new music video, “Humble“. I am beyond happy that musicians are going the next level with their music videos and understanding that commentary can be made not only through words but also through the images that you pair with them. The video has a cultural and art references stemming from contemporary editorial spreads to political images to renaissance and religious archetypes. As someone who appreciates well thought out content and would like to work with the video medium professionally, this video just made me really happy.
